Horizon Partners Northwest has a new tenant coming to its $125 million Brewery Blocks development in Tacoma: a taproom named The Living Room.
The self-serve taproom is slated for nearly 2,800 square feet of space in a brick building at 2101 S. C St. It is expected to open in late summer with 34 taps dispensing a variety of beers, ciders, wines, sodas, kombuchas, “nitro” coffees and other non-alcoholic options.
A news release says owner Andria Wunder’s background in hospitality management drove the inspiration for the interior finishes, including different design elements to bring the outdoors in with wood tones, a moss wall, indoor swings and greenery. There also will be a year-round outdoor balcony and fire pit.
Third Place Design is the architect, and Colvos Construction is the general contractor.
Customers will receive RFID cards when checking in. These cards will control and monitor how much they pour, billing per ounce when they leave. This allows them to sample small amounts to find favorites. Each tap will have a digital read-out that details the cost and what keynotes to pay attention to.
“In the past, I was more likely to order a glass of wine or cider as a safe bet. After visiting a self-serve taproom in the Midwest, I was able to try small samplings based on what I was in the mood for,” says Wunder in the news release. “Being able to pour myself small amounts and try different beers, while educating myself on the essence of each, allowed me to learn what I liked to drink.”
The Living Room will be pet-friendly and open six days a week to those 21 and over. Tasters can bring in their own food or order from nearby establishments. The space will be available to rent for private parties.
Horizon Partners has revitalized over 11 buildings in Tacoma’s downtown core. Its Brewery Blocks development counts Camp Colvos Brewing and Incline Cider among its tenants.
